I had a thing about rodeos and picked up this book dirt-cheap. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. But if there’s a better book about rodeo – its history, its heroes, its future – I’d love to read it. It’s written by WK Stratton and was published in 2005 by Harcourt Books. You can get it here. It’s really great stuff.
Freckles Brown was a small, unimposing man with no freckles. Ask him about his nickname, and the corners of his eyes would crinkle as he’d answer in a deadpan voice that, yeah, he once had freckles, but years of riding bulls had shaken them all off.
