Jonathan Wateridge 2007
I love this painting: it’s like a low budget B-movie freeze-frame that can’t help but unfurl plot in your head. I love its cliches too: the steamy, impenetrable resting place, and its body left largely intact, hinting at survivors.
It’s currently part of the Newspeak: British Art Now exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
